Where Creativity Meets Storytelling in Print

My time as the Design Editor of The Torch will always hold a special place in my heart. Every Tuesday night, our team of editors would come together to create that week’s publication. In just one night, we wrote, edited, proofread, and designed all the stories—an intense but rewarding process that sharpened my skills. It was a test of creativity and teamwork, but it was also incredibly fun. Through those late nights, I not only grew as a designer but also created work that left a lasting impression. Below are some of the designs that captured attention and sparked interest among our readers.

Courtside Magazine

The Courtside Magazine is The Torch’s annual sports publication dedicated to St. John’s basketball program. As the Design Editor, I was tasked with overseeing the entire design process—from crafting engaging layouts to ensuring every detail was print-ready. It was a challenging but rewarding project, filled with late nights and creative problem-solving. What made it truly memorable was seeing the players’ reactions to the magazine. One player’s family was so proud they bought an entire caseload to cherish. Moments like that showed me the real value of storytelling through design.
